Buoy boat drawings and specifications, 1932-1958 (bulk 1932-1936).

Buoy boats were used to maintain and refuel kerosene lighted buoys on the state's canal system. This series consists of plans, drawings, and specifications used in building the state's buoy boat fleet at the Syracuse Canal Shops in the 1920s and 1930s. The series also contains several typed and handwritten lists of labor, materials, equipment, and costs incurred to construct various numbers of boats.

Although surveys were made when the reservoir system was created by the Department of Public Works to serve the state canal system (early 19th through 20th century), the boundary lines of state property were not clearly defined, especially in the Adirondack region.
